David will introduce an online video talk by Nick Dearden, Director of Engineering at Confluent, which will cover how to leverage some of the more advanced transformation capabilities available in both KSQL and Kafka Connect, including how to chain them together into powerful combinations for handling tasks such as data-masking, restructuring and aggregations. Using KSQL, you can deliver the streaming transformation capability easily and quickly.

Nick Dearden, Director, Stream Processing, Confluent

Nick is a technology and product leader at Confluent, where he enjoys leveraging many years of experience in the world of data and analytic systems to help design and explain the power of a streaming platform for every business. Prior to Confluent, he led the data platform group for a leading online real-estate seller and was chief architect for a cloud-based financial analytics platform. His early career stretches all the way back through multiple data warehouse and business intelligence adventures to the green-screen days of mainframe banking systems.

David Peterson

David Peterson, Systems Engineer, Confluent

David Peterson leads Confluent’s APAC systems strategy and implementation with new and existing clients along with the technical implementation across the region. David has over 21 years’ experience in the tech/online space and over 11 years with large scale Open Source systems. He has lead some of the largest Open Source projects in the APAC region with a standout being the lead architect and security consultant on the Australian Government whole-of-government online rollout.
